Here are some suggestions for non-toxic alternatives to commonly used chemical laced hygene products like aluminum containing toxic deodorants & toothpastes, chemical ladened soaps. Plus there are some useful books, DVD's, Food preparation equipment & nutritional suggestions & other links and things I think might be useful for people trying to reduce toxic chemical exposure for them selves and the environment. Non-Toxic Hygiene: Dr. Bronner's Soap; pure simple organic castile based soap with orgainc essential oils. Totally versitile soap that you can use for shampoo, body soap, hands, dishes, launtry, floors - virtually anything! You can even brush your teeth with it - if you like the taste of soap! Grapefruit Seed Extract; Natural non-toxic Anti-microbial replacement for antibiotics & disinfectants. You can put 3 - 10 drops in your glass of drinking water for it's antifungal/microbial properties, or put it in your liquid soap to disinfectant without using toxic chemicals. Very potent and non-toxic even in high doses. Thai Crystal Deoderant; Pure Thai Mineral Salts. Liquid spray version also contains pure water. Based on the principle that if you change the PH, you discourage the bacterial growth which contributes (along side that whish you are detoxing) to an unpleasant smell. Essential Oils; Essential Oils are an amazing natural way (and the original way) to add a nice clean fragrant scent accent. The natural essences (oils) from flowers, seeds, barks, herbs and fruits are what all chemical/Industrial fragrances aim to be! Alot of people now a days are finding that they are reacting to many of those chemical synthetic scents, so people are rediscovering the delightful accents of fresh natural smells from essential oils. Try to choose organic oils if at all possible. VITA-MYR Toothpaste; A Natural toothpaste that fights gum disease and periodontal disease with Zinc and Folic Acid to gently assist your body's natural immune system and uses the ancient powers of Clove and Myrrh to purify and soothe bleeding gums. Or Make it Better your Self!: Mix three parts coral calcium (& or Zinc) with one part Himalayan sea salt *Add three teaspoons organic clycerine for every 1/4 cup of dry mixture. Add enough pure water to make a thick paste. You can add a few drops of any of the following oils; peppermint oil, wintermint oil, lemon oil, cinnamon oil, fennel oil, clove oil, ginger oil, vanilla oil, tea tree, etc. Add enough stevia to sweeten to taste (add slowly). Mix thoroughly. Keep refrigerated. You can also add a few drops of Grape Fruit Seed Extract (GSE) for added preservitive qualities. Knotty Boy Dread Wax; All-natural beeswax/ hempseed oil dread goop. For the Do-it your Selfer, try: 1/2 Cup Bees Wax (Melt slowly on low temperature), then take off and add: 1/8 Cup Coconut Oil / Olive Oil / Neem Oil / Avocado Oil / Jojoba Oil etc. (Base) Essential Oils of: lemon oil, lavender, eucalyptus oil, tea tree oil, vanilla, patchouli oil, Ylang Ylang Grape Fruit Seed Extract (as natural preservative) Pour into toilet paper rolls turned on their sides (on newspaper) - start by pouring a bit first and letting it cool. Then fill up. Let cool completely and then peel off (all or part or the) toilet paper roll. Fits in many Hair wax containers! Tip: dip your toilet paper rolls first and let cool before filling them.
